Trendy Baby Strollers: The Value of Giving This Holiday Season

Tis the season for little ones everywhere filling up their wish lists and pointing out everything they would like to receive for the holidays.  But do they understand the joy and valuable lessons of giving?  It doesn’t always cost much to give back and the experience will create memories that last a lifetime and help them grow to be generous, thoughtful, and kind throughout life.  Now is a great time of year to teach children the value of giving as opposed to receiving and to be thankful for all they do have when they have the opportunity to get a glimpse of those who may be less fortunate.  Here are a just few ways to spread joy with your little ones this holiday season:

Donate unused items:  Clothes, coats, toys, household items, and more may be just taking up space in your home and could be donated to others in need of them.  What a great and FREE way to help those who may be less fortunate or going through a rough patch in life.  This teaches children to appreciate what they do have and to think of others when they no longer want or need items now and in the future.

Monetary donations:  Charitable organizations are everywhere and are always in need of funds to support their cause.  Do you have a favorite charity?  Do you know of a charity that someone you love has benefited from?  You can become a regular supporter of a charity and show your children just how your generous donation is being used.  Donating to special causes allows your child to feel like they’ve helped contribute to the special cause, learn more about the cause, and feel inclined to help others throughout life if they are able.

Food donations:  Did you know over 49 million Americans live in food insecure households?  This can be especially difficult for families during the holidays, so donating nonperishable food items to your local food bank or other similar organizations is a great and inexpensive way to give back.  Allowing your children help deliver the goods will warm their little hearts.

Volunteering:  Whether it be at a local kitchen, nursing home, or hospital volunteers are always appreciated and in demand.  It doesn’t cost a dime, just a moment of your time.  And the experience is oh so rewarding!

Happy Holidays!
